We operate a data management platform and provide services to our Customers (the “Customer”), such as app developers, publishers, marketers, agencies, and other companies, to collect, organize, and activate data for marketing and advertising purposes. AlikeAudience’s technology platform, the AlikeAudience DMP, empowers our Customers to deliver personalized services or relevant contents to end users.
Data Collection and Use
AlikeAudience collects information from a variety of sources through three general channels:
- Direct Channel: You have direct interaction with us or through other activities such as account creation, submission of registrations and forms, or sales inquiries and transactions.
- Automated Channel: We use online technologies such as ‘cookies’, ‘pixel tags’, software development kit, and server-to-server connections with our Customers to collect and store data.
- Publicly Available Data & Third-Party Data: We collect data from Automated Channel on non-AlikeAudience websites, or other data you may have made publicly available, such as social media posts and comments, or data provided by third party sources, such as marketing opt-in lists, or location data aggregators.
Cookies: A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s web browser for record-keeping purposes. The cookie can be accessed by web servers to uniquely identify a browser when the user returns to a website. A cookie file may contain information such as an anonymous user ID that is associated with browser information, IP address and browsing behavior. Cookies do not capture personally identifiable information and cannot access any other data on a user’s hard drive or read cookie files created by other websites. AlikeAudience cookies are stored for 1 year.
Pixel tags: A pixel tag is a small transparent image or invisible tag that is embedded on a website or within the body of an email for the purpose of tracking activity on websites, or when emails are opened or accessed, and is often used in combination with cookies. Pixel tags may collect information about a user’s visit to a website, including the pages viewed, browser type, operating system, date and time information and other technical information about the user’s computer.
Server-to-server connections: AlikeAudience builds direct technical connections and integrations with technology partners whereby AlikeAudience may obtain data from other online and offline third-party sources through various secure information transfer methods. No personally identifiably information is transferred to AlikeAudience through these server-to-server connections.
Software Development Kit: Customers that use our Service to track the use of their mobile applications will provide us with information regarding the characteristics and activities of their end users, including information regarding downloads and installations of such mobile application and any information regarding in-app events such as in-app purchases. AlikeAudience obtains this information as a result of data being sent to our servers from our SDK in an end user’s mobile application. The data collected by the SDK includes information such as IP address, User agent, platform, SDK version, anonymous User ID, time stamp, Developer Key, application version, device identifiers such as: IDFA (Identifier For Advertisers), Android ID (Android device), Google Advertiser ID, device model, manufacture, OS version, in-app events, network status (WiFi/3G), installed app information, and motion sensor data (magnetic field, gyroscope, accelerometer). End user data collected by the AlikeAudience SDK is presented to our Customers to analyze their applications.
Physical Location: We may collect and process information about the physical location of your mobile device through partners, including mobile app owners and mediation platforms. We use various technologies, GPS, and other sensors, to determine nearby points of interest (POIs) and high level location characteristics. Physical locations collected through our technology are associated with non-personally identifiable information including but not limited to device type, advertising IDs (IDFA and Android ID), browser type, operating system, and IP address. We use such information to help Customers deliver you with personalized location-based services or content. In some instances, you may be permitted to allow or deny such use of your device’s location, but if you choose to deny such use, we may not be able to provide you with the applicable personalized services or content.
AlikeAudience acts as a third party processor on behalf of our Customers to aggregates the data collected and derives aggregated audience insights in form of “Audience Segments”. Then, our Customers are able to deliver personalized services and relevant content, and digital advertisements, through contextual, behavioural, demographic, interest-based, or location-based strategy.
Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”)
Personally identifiable information (“PII”) is information that can be used to identify an individual user, for example, a person’s name, home address, email address, or phone number. AlikeAudience collects, organizes and shares only non-personally identifiable information (“non PII”) which is received from Direct Channel, Automated Channel, and Public & Third Party Data Sources. When we refer to Non-PII, we mean datum that does not identify a particular individual, which include anonymous ID associated with the date and time the user visited the website, number of visits, average time spent, operating system, browser information (version, type), age and gender, browsing and purchasing behavior, the types of products purchased, information submitted on order forms and website registrations and interests expressed or implied at social networking sites, through your mobile device, web browser, or the mobile application that you use. However, if users send PII to us in an email or voluntarily provides PII to us in Direct Channel, we will receive and store such information.
How We Use Collected Information
The non PII that AlikeAudience collects is used for marketing and sales efforts to better target advertisements to people across the different websites they visit. The data is also used to predict responses to advertisements, to help determine which ads perform best.
There is also the possibility that AlikeAudience, or part(s) of the company, may one day be purchased by, or merged with, another company. If that’s the case, the acquiring (or merging) company will have access to information we have previously collected. Finally, we may release PII when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with a court order or to cooperate with government and law enforcement officials, enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements, or protect the rights, property or safety of AlikeAudience, our employees, users, or others.
Data Security & Protection
AlikeAudience takes appropriate security measures to safeguard information in our possession against unauthorized access, unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. Our security measures include physical security, appropriate encryption and restricted access to guard against the unauthorized use of data or information.
Any data that is stored on AlikeAudience’ servers is treated as confidential and is not generally available to the public. AlikeAudience has an internal security policy with respect to the confidentiality of customer and other data, limiting access only to those employees who we reasonably believe need to know such information for the purpose of performing their jobs. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure. Therefore, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect PII without guaranteeing its absolute security.
AlikeAudience concerns about children’s privacy. We do not intentionally collect any PII from children under the age of twelve. However, if you believe your child has provided any PII to us, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Blocking or deleting third-party cookies from the browser may prevent the customized user experience on most websites. Additionally this will not prevent all online behavioral advertising as the users will continue to receive advertisements that are not targeted or relevant to the website visitor. However, you have your right to opt-out from having AlikeAudience collects your Non-PII, please click here to opt-out directly. An opt-out cookie will then be placed on your computer, and it tells us not to collect your non-PII to our Customers for online advertisement campaigns. Please note that the opt-out cookie management via the browser is specific to each computer and internet browser. You may need to renew your opt-out choice on a different computer or browser. Our opt-out cookies last for at least five years.
Users can opt-out of interest-based targeting on mobile by enabling “Limit Ad Tracking” setting on iOS mobile devices and “Opt out of Interest-Based Ads” setting on Android devices.
